Starting Back Tack
Well last night when I left work, I decided that the first item I would try would be a pincushion. I found a sweet pincushion on the net and brought a picture of it home with me. I got as far as the physical construction and then I got no farther. Not for lack of trying. I stopped by my mom's on the way home and borrowed a Japanese embroidery book she found at Value Village. It has some wonderful embroidery examples. What I want to do is to cover the top of the pincushion with embroidery. I am looking for some fern-like motifs to tie into this fabrics wonderful straw-colouredleafy design. I also need to pick out a stitch to add around the sides to cover the seam. I tried quite a few times to add a motif and I had to pick the stitches out each time. Now I will have to add embroidery because you can see on the bottom of the picture where I picked out the stitches.
Pincushion
I am also unhappy that I have to resort to using the scanner to take a picture of the cushion. It makes it so flat and unapealing. The office's digital is off somewhere taking pictures of sturgeon most likely. My little pincushion is not a high priority fisheries model.
